Frequently Asked Questions About Pest Control Services
Do I have to be out of my house when treating the inside?
According to Canadian rules and regulations people within the household must stay out for four hours after the interior is treated. Normally the interior is treated when the customer leaves for work or has plans that will consume four hours of their time away from home. It can easily be arranged with us or a neighbor to have the door locked after treatment. When treating the exterior it does not matter if you're home or not we'll leave work tickets in the mailbox or door.
If it rains after treatment will that make the treatment ineffective?
The products we use are designed to be insoluble in water, to dry quickly and bind onto structures. We have had great success even when it has rained right after a treatment. Our focus is on areas that are sheltered from rain water/sun and where the insects will be hiding, for example under a window ledge. Of course weather conditions will effect the product which is why residuals will last for about two months.
Will the treatment stop the mosquitoes around my house?
Our treatment will help to deter mosquitoes when applied however, it will never fully protect a structure from flying insects which is why any flying insect treatments are not guaranteed. If you would like to prevent mosquitoes we offer a specific treatment designed to deter mosquitoes and allow you to enjoy your backyard without having to worry about those disease transmitting organisms.
I keep my house clean why do I still see pests on the inside?
Although unsanitary places will attract pests, this is more of a structural problem. A structure will face many challenges which will encourage pests to move inside. For example: Structures are always susceptible to ground settlement often causing cracks to form allowing pests to easily move in. There may be high levels of moisture in certain parts of the home which can be caused by several different motives. Moisture will lead to rot and the deterioration of a structure and pests will be attracted to these areas. Pests will also move in through plumbing and electrical junctions and of course by leaving the front door wide open. Keep in mind that pests are attracted to your home because it offers a great source for shelter, food and nesting sites.
How did I get bed bugs
Certain activities increase the chances of having bed bugs in your home. Some of the higher risk activities include:
- Bringing infested furniture or clothing into your home.
- Sleeping on a bed or sofa infested with bed bugs.
- Having guests over who have homes infested with bed bugs.
- Leaving clothes or baggage's on the floor or furniture for several hours in a home, hotel/motel, movie theater, store, office, car, taxi, bus, train, airplane, hospital or building infested with bed bugs.
Bed Bugs will normally feed on the host when they are asleep and the bed is warm. Often enough bed bugs go undetected until a heavier infestation is formed. Therefore it is important to treat the problem early before the infestation becomes worse.
